Roberto Perez was
born in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
He lived a portion of his adult life in Madrid, Spain,
the country of his grandparents.
He has now made his home in Los Angeles, California.
He enjoys the Mediterranean-like
climate here,
along with the abundant light and ocean.
His main focus as an artist is his work in oils,
exploring texture and color.
Perez studied with
Georgette Buckley.
She has been an enormous source of inspiration.
He has also gathered influences from Helen Van Wiyk,
through her books and programs, enjoying her mastery of
color and light.
Throughout his
life Perez has absorbed the riches
of the Mediterranean culture which are evident in his bold
artistic choices. He is also drawn to tropical settings
and, without a doubt, Brazil and African motifs.
His talents and hobbies, guided many times solely by
intuition, are skillfully expressed by his hands through
gardening, cooking, photography, and the ellusive canvas.
Between brush strokes,
yoga and meditation bring balance.
